Santa Escritura is a documentary series that explores the intersection of death and Mexican cultural identity through five major literary figures: Juan Rulfo, José Agustín, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Laura Esquivel, and Julián Herbert. Each episode was filmed in emblematic locations across Mexico City, Veracruz, and Guadalajara.
Hosted by journalist Adriana Santacruz, the series features conversations with actor Damián Alcázar, visual artist and singer Jaramar Soto, composer José Manuel Aguilera, traditional cook María de los Ángeles García, and writer Julián Herbert. Together, they reflect on how these authors and their works have shaped the national imagination around mortality and memory.
Winner of the 2024 TAL Award (Televisión América Latina) for Best Interview Program.
